Three Hit Night For Alen Hanson; Hafner Touches 94 MPH

On a night where I got to see Ryan Hafner pitch for the first time, the good news was seeing Alen Hanson play for the fourth time. In last night’s game he was hit in the head with an errant pick-off throw, which caused him to leave the game. He was back in the lineup tonight, although he was at DH for the night. State College Spikes Player Reports 8/25

Tonight I got a chance to see several State College Spikes players for the first time this year.  The Spikes had a bad game, losing 11-4, with five errors on defense.  Ryan Hafner, who has had a strong year this year, had one of his worst outings, giving up two homers and six runs, with only three earned.  After the game, Spikes manager Kimera Bartee held a very brief meeting with the team, threw on some shorts, and left the stadium....

Pirates Agree to Terms With 10th Round Pick Taylor Lewis

The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to terms with 10th round pick Taylor Lewis, Pirates Prospects has learned.  Lewis, a center fielder out of the University of Maine, put up a .287/.367/.412 line in 216 at-bats this year, with 20 stolen bases.  He was rated the fifth best prospect in upper New England by Baseball America.
