Pirates trade Morgan/Burnett for Milledge/Hanrahan

I’ve written about this rumored deal twice now. When it was first rumored, I looked at the Milledge/Craig Stammen request from the Pirates end. Later I looked at the debate between talent and attitude that seems to split Pirates fans on the deal. Today the Pirates finally made the move, trading Nyjer Morgan and Sean Burnett to Washington for Lastings Milledge and Joel Hanrahan. That debate is going to remain for Pirates fans now...

Eric Hinske traded to the Yankees

According to Dejan Kovacevic, the Pittsburgh Pirates have traded Eric Hinske to the New York Yankees for two prospects: outfielder Eric Fryer and pitcher Casey Erickson. He was taken in the 10th round by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2007, and traded to the Yankees in February in exchange for Chase Wright. So far this season he is hitting .250/.333/.344 with 2 homers in...

That being said, I think we could have at least gotten Heyward in a deal for McLouth. The problem I have is the timing. Atlanta...

Pirates trade McLouth to Atlanta

I think one thing is obvious right now: the Pirates really didn’t like Nate McLouth’s new haircut. I got home tonight to find some shocking news. No, not the Nate McLouth trade. That came a little later. I was out in the garden, watering the plants, and I noticed that one of the neighborhood cats had completely stolen the catnip that my wife and I grow for our two cats. And by “completely stolen” I mean...
