INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS (AAA)

GAME STORY

Indianapolis lost 8-2 to Toledo.  Joe Martinez (L, 1-2, 6.17) pitched 5.1 innings, allowing eight runs, five earned, on 11 hits, with two walks and three strikeouts.  Corey Hamman (3.41) pitched 2.2 shutout innings, allowing no hits, four walks and striking out two.  Anthony Claggett (4.78) pitched a shutout inning, allowing a walk and a hit, and striking out one.

Mitch Jones (.251) went 3-for-4 with a double, a run, a stolen base and an RBI.  Brandon Moss (.261) went 1-for-4 with a double and a run.  Alex Presley (.290) went 1-for-4 with a double.  Pedro Ciriaco (.274) went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

ALTOONA CURVE (AA)

Watson
Altoona beat Richmond 5-0.  Tony Watson (W, 6-2, 2.54) pitched seven shutout innings, allowing two hits, two walks, and striking out nine.  Tom Boleska (SV, 3, 2.57) pitched two shutout innings, allowing one hit.

Josh Harrison (.297) went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, and a run scored.  Hector Gimenez (.302) went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs.  Matt Hague (.293) went 2-for-4 with a double, a run, and an RBI.  Miles Durham (.261) went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs.

BRADENTON MARAUDERS (A+)

Bradenton had their game with Charlotte suspended in the first inning.

WEST VIRGINIA POWER (A)

Irwin

West Virginia beat Augusta 3-2 in 11 innings.  Phillip Irwin (3.57) pitched six innings, allowing a run on four hits, with a walk and nine strikeouts.  Maurice Bankston (4.94) pitched three innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits, with a walk and four strikeouts.  Kyle McPherson (W, 9-9, 3.59) pitched two shutout innings, allowing no hits, two walks and striking out two.

Benji Gonzalez (.233) went 2-for-4 with a walk, and two RBIs.  Elevys Gonzalez (.275) went 1-for-5 with a double.  David Rubinstein (.284) and Ramon Cabrera (.261) each went 2-for-5 with a run.  Andy Vasquez (.267) went 1-for-5 with a double, a run, and a stolen base.  Jesus Brito (.194) went 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.

STATE COLLEGE SPIKES (A, Short Season)

GAME STORY

State College lost to Batavia 7-3.  Zac Fuesser (L, 0-3, 3.91) pitched five innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, with two walks and one strikeout.  Brooks Pounders (4.69) pitched two innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits, with two walks and one strikeout.  Mitchell Fienemann (3.93) pitched two innings, allowing a run on three hits, with no walks and one strikeout.

Cole White (.265) went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run.  Gerlis Rodriguez (.200) went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.  Mel Rojas Jr. (.221) went 1-for-3 with a walk.

GCL Pirates (RK, Short Season)

Grovatt

The GCL Pirates beat the GCL Blue Jays 9-1.  Kevin Kleis (2.78) pitched four shutout innings, allowing four hits, one walk, and striking out three.  Rinku Singh (W, 2-0, 2.61) pitched two shutout innings, allowing two hits, one walk, and striking out four.  Yomar Pacheco (SV, 3, 4.85) pitched three innings, allowing a run on four hits, with no walks and three strikeouts.

Dan Grovatt (.200) went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs.  Elias Diaz (.221) went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.  Jared Lakind (.167) went 2-for-5 with a double and a run.  Eric Avila (.281) went 2-for-4 with a double, a run, and two RBIs.

The GCL Pirates wrap up their 2010 season tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM against the GCL Blue Jays.
