Sources say the Pirates have interest in Tampa Bay’s Jason Bartlett and Minnesota’s J.J. Hardy. Both are available via trade, because the San Francisco Giants (Miguel Tejada) and St. Louis Cardinals (Ryan Theriot) shopped elsewhere for their infield upgrades.

  1. Doug Bair had a long career for a two pitch pitcher! Always felt good he came back to the Pirates when they were good again. I think he was on the 1984 Tigers team, so he won a ring. He was definitely on the 1979 Reds…

  2. I remember Bair getting some big outs in ’89….unfortunately we had a down year and that was his last effective campaign.

    • He had some career. You don’t see too many guys that pitch that much in the majors, yet still spend parts/or all of 14 years in the minors. Three straight years he made exactly 26 starts at AAA and he got better each season. Gets to the majors and he averages one start every three years!
