Dejan Kovacevic’s New Blog

Published:

As you probably know by now, there has been a change in the Post-Gazette’s coverage of the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Colin Dunlap has taken over the beat at the PBC Blog, starting off yesterday with coverage from mini-camp, where he spoke to Clint Hurdle, Daniel Moskos, and Jeff Locke, among others.  I can’t say I’ve read much of Colin’s writing in the past, as he covered college basketball, and any reference to college basketball makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit.  I’ve heard nothing but good things from the people who have followed Colin’s previous work, and his coverage of mini-camp on day one provided a lot of good information and validated all of those positive reports.

Colin is replacing Dejan Kovacevic, who is moving up to an exciting new blog where he will cover and provide his thoughts on all of the teams in Pittsburgh.  DK’s new blog launched today, titled DK on Sports.  Dejan is a great writer and reporter, which is why I will personally be looking forward to his work writing about not only the Pirates, but the Steelers and Penguins.  I don’t think I need to mention that I follow baseball more than the other sports, so having DK splitting his time between all of the sports is a bit of a downer.  That said, his new blog will definitely increase my following of the Steelers and Penguins, which combined is currently limited to watching the Steelers play every Sunday.

DK’s blog, just like the PBC Blog, is featured behind the PG+ pay wall.  I’ve noticed a lot of comments from people saying they were opting for free blogs over paying for the PBC Blog.  I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: the Pittsburgh media should be supported.  They generate a bulk of the information we receive, including a bulk of the information that free blogs, such as my own, talk about.  That can easily be seen, as a majority of posts on my site mention Dejan, Rob Biertempfel, or Jenifer Langosch in the first line.  The more people we have covering the Pirates, the more information we receive, which is why the PG+ product should be supported.  The PBC Blog has been a great source of information, and Dejan has provided a lot of great content on the Pirates.  In my opinion, the two blogs are a must-read, and well worth the small subscription price.
