INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS (AAA)

Owens allowed a run in six innings tonight.

Starting Pitcher: Rudy Owens (6.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 0 HR)

Top Hitter: Andrew Lambo (2-for-3, BB)

Notes: Rudy Owens (5.01) got back on track tonight, allowing one run on five hits in six innings, with two walks and three strikeouts.  After allowing two runs in 13.1 innings in his first two starts of the year, Owens combined for 15 runs in 13 innings over his next three starts, heading in to tonight’s game.  Cesar Valdez (3.05) pitched three shutout innings, allowing a hit and striking out four.  Valdez allowed seven earned runs in 2.1 innings in his first two outings of the 2011 season, with a 2:4 K/BB ratio.  Since then he’s pitched 18.1 shutout innings, with a 13:3 K/BB ratio.  Justin Thomas (1-1, 3.24) took the loss with an unearned run in the bottom of the 11th.

Andrew Lambo (.233) went 2-for-3 with a walk.  Alex Presley (.358) went 1-for-4 with a walk and his ninth stolen base of the year.  Corey Wimberly (.235) scored the only run, going 1-for-5 with a triple.

ALTOONA CURVE (AA)

Holt hit his first homer of the year tonight.

Starting Pitcher: Aaron Pribanic (5.0 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 2 HR)

Top Hitter: Brock Holt (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI)

Notes: Aaron Pribanic (3-1, 2.91) had his worst start of the year, allowing five runs on eight hits in five innings, with a walk and two strikeouts.  Most of the damage came as a result of the long ball, with Pribanic’s two homers being responsible for four of his five runs.  Matt McSwain (7.71) pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Tom Boleska (5.40) allowed four runs on four hits in two innings, with a walk and three strikeouts.

Brock Holt (.279) went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs.  Starling Marte (.319) went 2-for-4.  Miles Durham (.194) went 1-for-4 with a run scored.

BRADENTON MARAUDERS (A+)

Inman allowed two earned runs in four innings.

Notes: Jeffrey Inman (1-1, 2.08) didn’t have his best result tonight, but wasn’t bad, with three runs allowed, two earned, on five hits in four innings.  Inman didn’t issue a walk, and struck out two.  Brett Lorin (3.51) pitched two perfect innings, striking out three.  Duke Welker (3.55) allowed two runs, both unearned, on three hits in two innings, with a walk and two strikeouts.

Calvin Anderson (.200) hit his fifth homer of the season, a solo shot to tie the game at 2-2 in the second.  Ramon Cabrera (.418) went 2-for-4 with a double.  Robbie Grossman (.261) went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

WEST VIRGINIA POWER (A)

Cain allowed one run in five innings tonight.

Notes: Colton Cain (2-2, 3.62) rebounded from a bad start the last time out, allowing one run on three hits in five innings tonight, with a walk and three strikeouts.  Kevin Decker (1.93) followed him with three perfect innings, striking out three.  Brooks Pounders (1.69) pitched a shutout inning, allowing one hit.

Eric Avila (.169) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base.  Daniel Grovatt (.299) went 2-for-4 with a run.  Jairo Marquez (.538) went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored.
