INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS (AAA)

Burres allowed one run in seven innings.

Starting Pitcher: Brian Burres (7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 1 HR)

Top Hitter: Chase d’Arnaud (2-for-3, SB)

Notes: Brian Burres (1-5, 4.62) had his best start of the 2011 season, allowing one run on four hits in seven innings, with a walk and five strikeouts.  The one run came on a solo homer.  However, Burres took the loss as the Indianapolis offense was unable to score a run.  Tony Watson (2.41) added a perfect inning with two strikeouts.

Chase d’Arnaud (.231) went 2-for-3 with his fifth stolen base of the year.  Alex Presley (.354) went 1-for-4.  Corey Wimberly (.236) went 1-for-4 with his sixth stolen base of the season.

ALTOONA CURVE (AA)

Mercer hit two homers today.

Top Hitter: Jordy Mercer (3-for-5, 2 HR, 5 RBI, SB)

Notes: Altoona got a huge effort from the offense today, led by Jordy Mercer (.233) who went 3-for-5 with two homers, giving him six on the year.  Mercer only hit three homers in 2010, and had 10 homers in 2009, so the increased power is a good sign.  He’s been on fire lately, with a .395/.442/.632 line in ten games in the month of May, after putting up a .154/.233/.346 line in April.  Miles Durham (.214) went 3-for-5with his first homer of the year.  Jose Hernandez (.207) also hit his first homer of the year.  Starling Marte (.328) went 3-for-6 with a double and his ninth stolen base of the season.

Jeff Locke (2-3, 3.35) got the win, allowing two runs on five hits in six innings, with no walks and three strikeouts.  Locke also went 2-for-3 at the plate.  Anthony Claggett (2.65) pitched two shutout innings, allowing a hit and striking out one.  Tim Alderson (1.04) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

BRADENTON MARAUDERS (A+)

Cabrera went 3-for-4.

Notes: Phillip Irwin (1.13) had another good start for the Marauders, allowing a run on two hits in five innings, with two walks and three strikeouts.  However, Diego Moreno (1-2, 6.57) allowed five runs, four earned, and only managed one out.  Porfirio Lopez (5.52) pitched 2.2 shutout innings, allowing two walks and two hits.

Ramon Cabrera (.441) went 3-for-4 with two doubles.  Robbie Grossman (.267) went 2-for-5 with two steals, giving him nine on the year.  Adalberto Santos (.301) went 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Elevys Gonzalez (.312) went 1-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.

WEST VIRGINIA POWER (A)

Grovatt went 3-for-5 with two doubles.

Notes: Zack Von Rosenberg (0-3, 6.75) started off strong tonight, pitching three shutout innings, but ran in to trouble in the fourth, allowing five runs.  Von Rosenberg allowed those five runs in five innings, with a walk and four strikeouts.  Casey Sadler (4.97) pitched three innings, allowing two runs on three hits, with two walks and a strikeout.

Daniel Grovatt (.317) went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a stolen base.  Drew Maggi (.202) went 2-for-5 with a triple and an RBI.  Mel Rojas Jr. (.291) went 3-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base.  Kawika Emsley-Pai (.410) went 2-for-5 with a triple.
