The Pittsburgh Pirates announced the signings of 18th round pick Josh Poytress and 32nd round pick David Jagoditsh. Â We already knew about Jagoditsh, as we reported on Saturday that he had agreed to terms.
Poytress, a left handed pitcher, was originally drafted by the Houston Astros in the 16th round out of high school, but chose to go to Fresno State. Â He sits in the upper 80s with his fastball, and tops out at 92. Â He also throws a slider and a changeup, with improved command this year. Â He put up his best results in his junior year, with improved control being a big factor.
The Draft Pick Signing Tracker is updated with the move. Â The Pirates have now signed 13 players.
