Game Notes: Owens had a high strikeout total tonight, getting eight in 4.1 innings.  That matches his total in his last three starts, spanning 12.1 innings in those outings.  A big issue with Owens this year has been his lack of strikeouts, with 42 in 79.1 innings.  Gorkys Hernandez is now hitting for a .297/.353/.414 line on the season.

Game Notes: Joe Beimel made another rehab start, this time on one day of rest.  He is expected to go back to back nights this weekend, which should be the end of his rehab assignment.  Matt Curry is off to a good start in July, going 9-for-23 with a double and a homer.  Irwin allowed a leadoff single in the third, and didn’t allow another hit until a leadoff single in the eighth inning.

Game Notes: West Virginia came back late, and won the game in 10 innings.  Justin Howard came through with an RBI double in the 9th to tie the game.  They scored two in the top of the 10th, led by a Rogelios Noris double.  Mel Rojas Jr. and Cole White each homered early in the game.
