Bradenton has a 4.5 game lead in their division with just nine games left in their season. The GCL Pirates finish their season today. With a win or a loss by the GCL Cardinals they will win the wild card spot.

Kingham has made 9 straight starts with either one or no runs allowed

AAA: Indianapolis (70-65) @ Columbus (82-53) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Brian Burres (5-9 4.66)

Burres has made 22 starts this year and 2 relief appearances. In 123.2 innings he has allowed 131 hits, 44 walks and he has struck out 95. He is the team leader in innings pitched, hits allowed, strikeouts and home runs allowed. In his last start on Monday he pitched 8 scoreless innings recording nine strikeouts. Indy is 5 games back in the wild card race with 9 games left in the season.

AA: Altoona (60-72) @ Binghamton (60-72) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Brett Sinkbeil (0-0 2.25)

Sinkbeil has made 2 starts for Altoona since being promoted. In Bradenton he went 2-6 5.11 in 20 appearances, nine as a starter. In his last start he gave up 2 runs in 7 innings on Monday.

High-A: Bradenton (68-61 overall 38-21 2nd half) @ St Lucie (68-62 overall 30-30 2nd half) 6:30pm
Probable starter: Brett Lorin (7-5 2.78)

Lorin has made 15 starts and 8 relief appearances this year. He has pitched 107 innings giving up 96 hits, walking just 17 and striking out 98. He leads the team in strikeouts, two ahead of Nate Baker. In his last start, which was against tonight’s opponent, St Lucie, he allowed one run in 5 innings but got a no-decision. He has not lost since July 3rd, which was also against St Lucie.

Low-A: West Virginia (62-67 overall 26-34 2nd half) VS Lexington (55-75 overall 20-40 2nd half) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Zack Von Rosenberg (4-8 5.76)

Zack will make his team leading 24th start tonight. He has also pitched twice in relief. He is the team leader in innings pitched with 115.2 and strikeouts with 103. He has walked just 22 batters all season. He has a 2.11 ERA in four August starts and in his last game he went 5.2 innings allowing 2 earned runs and he struck out six.

Short Season A: State College (25-41) VS Williamsport (38-29) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Nick Kingham (4-2 2.36)

Kingham will make his 14th start of the season tonight. In his last 9 starts he has allowed either one or no runs in every start. He has a 1.23 ERA over that time frame and has gone 4-0.  He is the team leader in strikeouts with 42 and his 61 innings pitched is just 1/3 of an inning behind team leader Matt Benedict. In his 6 home starts Nick has walked just 2 batters while striking out 24.

Rookie: GCL Pirates (33-26) VS GCL Yankees (37-22) 10:00am

The GCL Pirates are currently in 2nd place, 4 games back in the standings.

VSL: VSL Pirates (40-32)

The VSL Pirates have finished their season. They won the VSL pennant for a sixth straight year.

DSL: DSL Pirates (41-30)

The DSL Pirates finished tied for 2nd in their division, 5.5 games back.

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
