Pirates to open gates an hour early for season ticket holders

Published:

The Pirates today announced the gates at PNC Park will now open 30 minutes earlier for all season ticket holders prior to Monday through Saturday night games. Season ticket holders will be able to catch the Pirates batting practice, allowing entrance at 4:35 PM for 7:05 PM games. The season ticket holders will now have access to the ballpark for an hour before the general public.

The fan friendly decision was decided after surveying current season ticket holders, who had the desire to view Pirates batting practice. The Pirates said the organization decided to make the change and wanted to enhance the overall experience for their loyal season ticket holders.

“This decision was made as a response to the feedback we received from our season ticket holders,” said Pirates President Frank Coonelly. “Our fans provide outstanding feedback and we agreed that season ticket holders who support the club all season long deserve the special opportunity to watch Pirates batting practice. This special benefit is another way for us to say thank you for our season ticket holders’ support.”

For Monday through Friday night games, Season Ticket Holders may enter the ballpark to the Left Field Bleachers 2 hours and 30 minutes prior to game time. On Saturday night games, Season Ticket Holders are permitted to enter into the Left Field Bleachers and main concourse 2 hours and 30 minutes prior to game time.

The early access is granted by entering through the Roberto Clemente (center field) Riverwalk Gate, and proceeding to the bullpen gates where season ticket holders can then show their Season Ticket Holder card or have their season ticket scanned.

The Season Ticket Holder early entry is not available on day games (12:35pm, 1:35pm and 4:05pm). All season ticket holders are eligible for the new entry times as full-season plans, 41-game plans, 20-game plans and 10-game plans each qualify.

  • The Pirates also announced today that Pirates Charities will hold the second annual “Pirates 5k Home Run” event, which is scheduled for April 21st.

The race is open to fans of all ages and abilities and will begin at 8AM. Fans who do not wish to run can also walk the 5K Home Run event. There is also the option to run in teams or as individuals. The top male and female individual runners in each age group, as well as top male, female and co-ed teams, will be recognized on the field at PNC Park prior to that night’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

There will also be a post-race party on Federal Street and there will also be prizes and giveaways. For more information visit pirates.com/5khomerun
