Lincoln, McPherson Scratched from Outings

Published:

ST. PETE, Fla. — Right-handers Brad Lincoln and Kyle McPherson were scratched from their outings today against the Philadelphia Phillies at McKechnie Field.

Lincoln, 26, has been scratched from his outing today due to right calf tightness.  His status is day to day. Lincoln has made two appearances during Grapefruit League action this spring. In his first outing on March 3, Lincoln tossed a perfect inning of relief with a strikeout. On Wednesday, Lincoln allowed four runs on six hits with two walks over an inning against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Left-hander Rudy Owens will start in place of Lincoln today against the Phillies. Owens was originally slated to pitch against the Netherlands in a split squad game today in St. Pete.

McPherson, 24,  has been scratched from his outing today with dead arm-like symptoms.  His status is also day to day. McPherson has yet to appear in a Grapefruit League game this spring, appearing in “B” games at Pirate City. Today would have been McPherson’s Grapefruit League debut.

The Pirates and Phillies game starts at 1:05 PM. Right-hander Charlie Morton will get the nod for the Bucs.
