Pirates Sign 25-players for 2012 season

DUNEDIN — The Pittsburgh Pirates agreed to terms with 25 pre-arbitration players for one-year contracts for the 2012 season.

Highlighted of those players are All-Star center fielder Andrew McCutchen and second baseman Neil Walker.

The 25 players they have agreed to terms with include:

Infielders: Chase d’Arnaud, Matt Hague, Josh Harrison, Jordy Mercer, Yamaico Navarro, Gustavo Nunez, Neil Walker

Outfielders: Gorkys Hernandez, Starling Marte, Andrew McCutchen, Alex Presley

Catcher: Michael McKenry

Pitchers: Jared Hughes, Chris Leroux, Brad Lincoln, Jeff Locke, Daniel McCutchen, James McDonald, Kyle McPherson, Bryan Morris, Daniel Moskos, Rudy Owens, Tony Watson, Duke Welker and Justin Wilson

The deadline to negotiate contracts and automatically renew those not signed for the 2012 season was not until March 11.

The Pirates kick off the Grapefruit League today at Dunedin against the Toronto Blue Jays at 1:05. On Sunday, the Bucs will have their home opener at McKechnie Field at 1:05 against the Blue Jays.
