The Pittsburgh Pirates today selected infielder Jeff Clement from Triple-A Indianapolis and optioned infielder Yamaico Navarro to Triple-A.
In 112 games with Indianapolis this season, Clement hit .276 (115-for-416) with an International League-leading 35 doubles, 16 home runs and 57 RBI. Clement, who was Pittsburgh’s Opening Day first baseman in 2010, made his last appearance in a Major League game with the Pirates on August 20, 2010.
The Pirates 40-man roster now is at 39.
Yeah, as bench fodder.
