Pirates to Call Up Five in First Wave of September Callups

According to a source, the following five players will join the Pirates in Milwaukee on Saturday when the rosters expand for September 1st. Pitchers Chris Leroux, Jeff Locke and Justin Wilson, catcher Eric Fryer and infielder Brock Holt.

Both Leroux and Holt are not currently on the club’s 40-man roster, but the roster was at 39 and a second spot opened on Friday when the Pirates outrighted Jeff Clement to High-A Bradenton.

For Holt it would be his first trip to the Majors. He started the season at Double-A, but has put up an impressive .432/.476/.537 line over 24 games at Triple-A.

Locke pitching tonight? Hes listed as the starter in my local paper.

Unless the Pirates are doing something with the rotation, AJ Burnett is starting tonight on normal rest.

Leave it to TC Scripps.

i guess this ends the fable of NH caring more about INDY’s championship run than P’Burgh’s

Maybe Holt will see some time at second; push Harrison back into the shortstop rotisserie to ensure that nobody gains any traction. Is Mercer still on the team?

I want Holt at shortstop. Walker is our secondbaseman, we need a future shortstop. Let’s see what he can do at short!

Yes, but it would seem as though he isnt. He hasn’t played since he became a dad… that has to be bittersweet 🙂
