SCOUTING REPORT
Wilson was a top prospect out of high school in 2010, but was seen as a difficult sign. That caused him to drop to the 12th round where the St. Louis Cardinals selected him. He didn’t sign, went to Stanford, and the move looks to have paid off now that he has a shot at going in the top ten. He’s got the arm for right field and a lot of power. He’s also a really big hitter at 6′ 5″, 245. Wilson hit for a .312/.436/.623 line in the Cape Cod League over the summer, but ended his campaign early with an oblique strain. The Pirates have a lot of outfield depth in their system, but it never hurts to add another potential power hitter. Wilson might not be there when the Pirates pick ninth, but if he is, he would be a valuable pick.
