Injury Notes: Chase D’Arnaud, Anderson Hernandez

Two injury updates from McKechnie Field this morning:

**Chase d’Arnaud injured his left thumb during rundown drills this morning. He will be replaced today in the lineup by Ivan De Jesus Jr. D’Arnaud said it was too early to tell how serious the injury was, but that he didn’t think it was going to be serious.

**Anderson Hernandez hurt his right shoulder last night. There’s no timetable for his return.

Tim started Pirates Prospects in 2009 from his home in Virginia, which was 40 minutes from where Pedro Alvarez made his pro debut in Lynchburg. That year, the Lynchburg Hillcats won the Carolina League championship, and Pirates Prospects was born from Tim's reporting along the way. The site has grown over the years to include many more writers, and Tim has gone on to become a credentialed MLB reporter, producing Pirates Prospects each year, and will publish his 11th Prospect Guide this offseason. He has also served as the Pittsburgh Pirates correspondent for Baseball America since 2019. Behind the scenes, Tim is an avid music lover, and most of the money he gets paid to run this site goes to vinyl records.

And, right on cue, IDJ steps in and hits a HR in today’s game. Maybe it is some sign from above that at age 26, Chase needs to be thinking what is in his future? He is one of those guys who was given his shot and did not do anything with the opportunity. I think it has passed him by with the Pirates.
