For the last few years I’ve debated whether to add a podcast to the site. There are already some good podcasts out there at Bucs Dugout and Rumbunter, and I wasn’t sure that I could add anything which would be different than what was already on the site.
With my move to Bradenton this year, and the opportunity for more live coverage, I decided that a podcast could add to the site. Back in January I bought all of the equipment to record a weekly show. I’ve been waiting for the first episode, mostly to let Spring Training pass, and then the start of the season. Now that this is out of the way, we will be recording one episode per week, with the episodes going up each Friday.
Each episode will include insight and analysis from several Pirates Prospects writers. The podcasts will also include exclusive player interviews. The podcast will go by the name of “The Pirates Prospects Podcast”, or “P3” for short.
The first episode will go up today at 9:00 AM, and will feature a discussion on the Pirates with myself, James Santelli and Tom Bragg, plus an interview with Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Nick Kingham, and a rundown of the minor league system thus far. I spent the day today editing the podcast, recording the segment with James and Tom, and getting all of the behind the scenes stuff set up. I’m pleased with how everything turned out, and hope you enjoy it when the first episode is released.
In the coming days, once everything is approved with each avenue, I’ll provide different ways to download the podcast (iTunes, Android App). For now the podcast will be available to stream on the site, and I’ll provide a direct download link when tomorrow’s episode goes up.

Tim started Pirates Prospects in 2009 from his home in Virginia, which was 40 minutes from where Pedro Alvarez made his pro debut in Lynchburg. That year, the Lynchburg Hillcats won the Carolina League championship, and Pirates Prospects was born from Tim's reporting along the way. The site has grown over the years to include many more writers, and Tim has gone on to become a credentialed MLB reporter, producing Pirates Prospects each year, and will publish his 11th Prospect Guide this offseason. He has also served as the Pittsburgh Pirates correspondent for Baseball America since 2019. Behind the scenes, Tim is an avid music lover, and most of the money he gets paid to run this site goes to vinyl records.
Best of luck with it, Tim.
