Russell Martin has been named the National League player of the Week, Major League Baseball announced this afternoon. Martin hit for a .375 average and led the National League with four homers and a .958 slugging percentage. The catcher came up big over the weekend, hitting a game tying home run on Saturday, then two home runs on Sunday, the first of which gave the Pirates the only run they would have needed that day....
