Here are the minor league moves from the last two days in the system.
**Chase d’Arnaud has been reinstated from the Triple-A disabled list. D’Arnaud went down a few weeks ago with a wrist injury.
**Ali Solis has been promoted from Altoona to Indianapolis. Interesting that this move gives Indianapolis three catchers.
**Miguel Perez has been activated off the Double-A disabled list, replacing Solis on the Altoona roster.
**Jeff Larish has been placed on the Triple-A disabled list.
I have been bitching and moaning about McKenry all season but I agree, I think he will be the back up the rest of the year.
Ron good point, does anyone know if we have any tough lefties coming up on the schedule? That’s usually when Alvarez has been sat.
Nope – just Gio for the Nats tomorrow, no one in 3 games with Marlins and no one for 5 games with Cards after that – all righties.
Interesting.
Whether it’s good or bad I think Fort is the backup catcher for the duration of the season.
Can’t be good. He is starting at catcher tonight so we will see.
Off topic but I was looking at the NL standings and I noticed something interesting.
.
The Cards are 14-16 against teams with a .500 record or greater. Meanwhile the Pirates are 21-20. The Cards apparently have been feasting on sub .500 teams with a 46-21 record (FYI, Pirates are 38-19 against sub .500 teams).
.
Next week should be very interesting. I think the Pirates will regain the division lead by the end of next week.
The Solis move makes me think that Tony Sanchez could be coming back up as a bench option. He has no defensive flexibility though, so I have no idea what to think.
Very true, but Russel Martin does. Maybe Sanchez will come up so Martin could see more time at 3rd against LHP
This would be really thinking outside the box for NH and CH.
.
I wouldn’t mind seeing this.
Defensively,Solis was probably the weakest catcher with the Curve from what I saw.
