Pirates Received $250,000 From the Mets

Published:

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Pittsburgh Pirates received $250,000 from the New York Mets for the Marlon Byrd/John Buck trade.

I’ve updated the 2013 payroll projection with all of the figures. The Pirates will take on $964,835 for the remainder of the year for the two players. That puts the payroll projection at $71.4 M. That amount should increase once players join the Pirates for September call-ups. It would obviously increase if the Pirates added anyone else, such as Justin Morneau.
