The GCL Pirates lost today in a one game playoff, ending their season. After the game, first round picks Austin Meadows and Reese McGuire were promoted to Jamestown, per their Twitter accounts. Neither move is a surprise, since the GCL seasons are over, and Jamestown could be heading to the playoffs. At the very least, both players should get a week at the new level, since Jamestown plays until the fourth. The Jammers currently have a two game lead in the Wild Card race in the NYPL, so they’ve got a good shot of extending their season.

The Pirates always send players from the GCL to the NYPL at the end of the season, so there should be more players to join McGuire and Meadows.

UPDATE 9:00 PM: The Pirates confirm that both McGuire and Meadows are expected to join Jamestown for the rest of the Jammers’ 2013 season.

UPDATE 9:22 PM: Right-handed pitcher Jerry Mulderig has also been promoted to Jamestown, Pirates Prospects has learned. He was taken in the 28th round, and had a 2.25 ERA in 12 innings this year in the GCL, along with an 8:3 K/BB ratio.
