If Snider bats in this game, it means the Pirates are in a world of hurts……….or it is a 16 inning game.

Snider hit 2 PH HR’s in September – I think that got him there.

It is a little surprising to me that Snider made it over Pie, but Snider has been clutch this year in certain situations.

– Walkoff against Reds when Jeanmar left game early
– The 9th inning homer against the Brewers to clinch win number 81

You thought Pie was in the running? He hit .138 with the Pirates this year with no power. Snider has been a big disappointment, but compared to Pie he looks like an All-Star.

The only reason Pie would of made the roster would be for defensive abilities and to pinch run. I doubt it crossed anyone’s mind to have him hit.

And maybe for late (9th) inning OF defense if we have a lead. It also leave us with only 5 LH bats against Cincy’s RHPs. Snider & Jones will be the bench bats. We’ll start 5 RH hitters against Cueto. Granted that 3 of them have pretty good splits vs RHP.
