Minor League Schedule: Creasy Looks to Continue Scoreless Streak

All four affiliates on the schedule for Thursday night, highlighted by Bradenton’s Jason Creasy making his fifth start of the year. He has pitched 11 shutout innings over his last two games. AAA: Indianapolis (13-6) @ Toledo (8-12) 6:30pm 
Probable starter: Adam Wilk (2-1, 4.32)
Yesterday’s Result: Toledo 2, Indianapolis 0

Adam Wilk will make his fourth start of the season today. He has pitched a total of 16.2 innings, allowing 13 hits, two homers and five walks. Wilk has 14 strikeouts, an 0.52 GO/AO ratio and a .210 BAA. In his last start, he went five innings, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks. Wilk faced  Toledo in his second start. He gave up three runs on four hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out a season-high of seven batters in that game.

AA: Altoona (8-9) vs Harrisburg (4-13) 6:30pm
Probable starter: Tyler Sample (1-0, 1.50)
Yesterday’s Result: Altoona 10, Harrisburg 9

Tyler Sample will make his third start of the season tonight. He has also pitched once in relief. In his first start, Sample went four innings, giving up two runs on two hits and six walks. In his last start, he threw five shutout innings, allowing two hits and he walked five batters. In 12 innings, he has given up just five hits, but has walked 14 batters.

High-A: Bradenton (12-7) @ Charlotte (7-12) 6:30pm
Probable starter: Jason Creasy (1-0, 1.83)
Yesterday’s Result: Charlotte 3, Bradenton 2 in 14 innings

Jason Creasy will make his fifth start of the season tonight, the first Pirates pitcher to reach that number in the minors. Creasy has thrown shutout ball in each of his last two outings. In 19.2 innings on the season, he has allowed 17 hits, one homer and six walks. Creasy has eight strikeouts, a 1.37 GO/AO ratio and a .246 BAA. He made his season debut against Charlotte, giving up two runs over 4.2 innings.

Low-A: West Virginia (7-11) vs Hagerstown (14-5) 7:05pm  
Probable starter: Cody Dickson (2-1, 4.02)
Yesterday’s Result: Kannapolis 2, West Virginia 1

Cody Dickson will make his fourth start of the season tonight. He has had two strong outings and one poor showing. He threw five shutout innings in his season debut, striking out seven batters. Dickson didn’t walk any batters in either of his first two starts. He has pitched a total of 15.2 innings, giving up 19 hits, two homers and two walks. Dickson has 12 strikeouts, a 1.42 GO/AO ratio and a .322 BAA.

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects.
