Minor League Schedule: John Kuchno Has Been Strong at Home This Year

Jay Jackson will make his tenth start of the season tonight. He has also made ten relief appearances. On the year, he has thrown a total of 63 innings, surrendering 60 hits, six homers and 27 walks. Jackson has 67 strikeouts, an 0.62 GO/AO ratio and a .244 BAA. In his last start, he threw 5.2 shutout innings. Jackson has a streak of 12.2 scoreless innings over his last three appearances, allowing just five hits.

AA: Altoona (30-54) @ Bowie (46-39) 6:35pm
Probable starter: Zack Dodson (2-4, 4.43)
Yesterday’s Result: Altoona 5, Bowie 1

Zack Dodson will get his 13th start of the season tonight. He has also pitched once in relief. Dodson has thrown 61 innings, allowing 74 hits, five homers and 17 walks. He has 35 strikeouts, a 1.53 GO/AO ratio and a .308 BAA. In his last start, Dodson gave up five runs on seven hits and a walk in six innings. He has a 6.15 ERA at home this year and 3.12 on the road.

High-A: Bradenton (43-39, 8-5 2nd half) vs Ft Myers (38-43) 6:30pm

John Kuchno will make his 17th start of the season. He has thrown 83.2 innings this year, giving up 80 hits, two homers and 38 walks. He has 44 strikeouts, an impressive 2.50 GO/AO ratio and a .256 BAA. In his last start, Kuchno allowed two runs on seven hits and three walks in six innings. At home this season, he has a 2.93 ERA, while it jumps to 4.42 on the road.

Low-A: West Virginia (28-54, 7-6 2nd half) vs Hickory (53-30) 6:05pm
Probable starter: Dovydas Neverauskas (4-6, 6.14)
Yesterday’s Result: Hickory 5, West Virginia 1

Dovydas Neverauskas will make his 16th start of the season tonight. He has thrown 66 innings, allowing 86 hits, eight homers and 29 walks. He has 42 strikeouts, an 0.89 GO/AO ratio and a .321 BAA. In his last start, Neverauskas went six innings, giving up three runs(two earned) on six hits and no walks. He had a 9.15 ERA in five June starts.

Short-Season A: Jamestown (8-11) vs Williamsport (9-9) 7:05pm
Probable Starter: Montana DuRapau (0-0, 1.80)

Montana DuRapau will make his second start of the year. He has also pitched three times in relief. In his only start, DeRapau gave up two runs(one earned) on three hits and no walks in four innings. In ten innings, he has a 1/12 BB/SO ratio, with a 1.25 GO/AO ratio and a .167 BAA.

John Dreker
John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
