Amazing Performances From Glasnow, Bell, and Sampson This Week

Stats: 16-for-26, 3 3B, HR, 3 BB

Notes: Bell had an amazing week that made him the easy choice as the Eastern League Hitter of the Week. Giving better perspective to his week, his 16.38 RC was the best week in the Pirates’ system since Stetson Allie’s big week in West Virginia in May 2013. Not only did Bell record a hit in over half of his at-bats, but he showed off some power, with his first Double-A home run, and three triples. The triples are an encouraging sign for future power. Bell has some speed, but he’s in no way a guy who should be racking up a lot of three baggers. That’s a result of hitting the ball far and to the gaps, giving him a chance to stretch a double to a triple. As he gets older, those shots could turn into home runs.
