Tyler Glasnow Injury Update

Tyler Glasnow drove to Pittsburgh today for a doctor’s checkup with the Pirates to evaluate the status of his ankle injury. He has been in a walking boot since he made a start on May 17th, where it was obvious that his push off ankle was still bothering him. He originally hurt his ankle on May 6th while sliding into second base.

After the checkup today, he has been cleared by the Pirates to lose the walking boot. He was working out before the Altoona Curve game tonight, and he shared that he will begin throwing again tomorrow. There are currently no updates on when Glasnow will be back in the rotation, only that he is now day-to-day.

  • Tim, Since you wrote this update I check daily for Altoona’s scheduled games and starting pitchers. As of Jun 13, Tyler is not listed for any future game starts. Can you update?

I have also hurt my ankle sliding into second base, toe first. It is miserable. Mine was okay in a couple days, though, fortunately. I’ve seen people break their ankles or rip up all the tendons sliding into a base, so I’m glad that’s not what happened to Tyler. That takes along time to heal.

  • Good news…can’t wait to see him back and healthy. I have a couple of Curve games that I want to get to so I can watch him.
