Andrew McCutchen was named the National League Player of the Month for August. He hit .348/.470/.609 in 27 games in August, scoring 18 times and driving in 19 runs. This is the fourth time he has won the monthly award, also taking home the honor in June of last year and June and July of the 2012 season. McCutchen was the Player of the Week from August 3rd-9th.

On the year, McCutchen is hitting .303/.404/.517 in 128 games, with 20 homers and 33 doubles. His .922 OPS is fourth best in the NL.

    • Totally agree. It makes no sense. I remember in either ’11 or ’12 he did the exact same thing-I think it was late in August in Milwaukee, he sat Cutch in a huge series so he could have back to back days off. I know they are not robots but nothing drains the energy from a team like sitting your best player. Had they won the first two I could go with it, but this was uninspired decision by Hurdle.
