PITTSBURGH — The Pirates and Mets were rained out Monday evening, and the teams will play a traditional doubleheader, which will start at 4:05 p.m. The second game will start approximately 30 minutes after the end of the first game.
The Pirates have not officially announced their pitching plans for the rescheduled affair, but their website currently lists Jonathon Niese, who was scheduled to start Monday, and Francisco Liriano, was scheduled to start on Wednesday, as the pitchers for the doubleheader. Juan Nicasio was scheduled to start Tuesday night for the Pirates.
The Mets will start Steven Mats in Game 1 and Jacob de Grom in Game 2 with Noah Syndergaard starting on Wednesday.
Hate to say it but based on the pitching matchups it looks like a Mets sweep. Lets hope the Bucs have the Mets number and it starts a long winning streak for them.
It’s a strangely breezy day here in Pittsburgh, wind whipping around everywhere. Dry though. Humidity took a nosedive. We could be in for an interesting couple of games today.
Still, I love me a traditional doubleheader! Used to go to them all the time when I was young in the late 70’s. All of them between 1976 & 1979. Saw some great ones.
A Doubleheader — weather permitting.
Ok, I am way too pessimistic about this but I will write it anyway:
–
“Well, Nicasio will be available tomorrow if Liriano can
only go three innings again tomorrow.”
….maybe we see Taillon replace Nicasio.
Taillon replaces Nicasio and, when Frankie goes down with the mysterious injury, Kuhl is advanced.
Damn Blaine! You really want that DL stint for Liriano! After that last start by Kuhl, you’re dreaming! They are not promoting multiple prospects that close together! Think 2 months maybe with struggles or trades! In response to an older post of yours, BP considerations for Liriano is pushing it as well.
I think a DL stint for Liriano and Cutch is necessary.
I think Cutch is probably necessary if we want him to be himself.
I agree with Kozy21; long rest and watching video of the swings and misses.
I think giving him a few extra days rest is a lil more honest for him. I would say skip a start but it would have to happen around a scheduled day off.
