The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed three more draft picks, in addition to the 13 we heard about yesterday. The new players today are:
Arden Pabst, 12th
Matt Frawley, 17th
Stephen Owen, 25th
All three players have been assigned to Morgantown. Â The draft tracker has been updated. You can find information on each player on their player pages linked to their names above. The Pirates have signed 27 of their 41 draft picks.
As an add on the earlier draft pick signing announcements, the Pirates assigned third round pick Stephen Alemais and tenth round pick Matt Anderson to Morgantown.
John, is it likely that none of the signees who were taken after Round 10 got more than 100k?
I wouldn’t say a guarantee, as Ryan Nagle signed for $160,000 and he doesn’t stand out from the crowd. Since none of them were HS players, it’s possible though. Max Kranick will take more than slot to sign, so that’s where I expect most of the over-slot money to go
John Dreker, is that a typo on the Draft Pick Signing Tracker that 10th round pick Matt Anderson only signed for $10,000?
Nope on Anderson. He was a college senior who has no leverage. I assume the Pirates called him and others and said will you sign for $10,000 and he said yes and they took him in the 10th round. They actually had someone else lined up who was willing to take $3,000, but went with Anderson’s higher upside
Pabst is a blue ribbon prospect
That’s classier than Pabst smears the ball
