Pittsburgh Pirates Call Up Jordan Luplow

The Pittsburgh Pirates officially announced the move to call up outfielder Jordan Luplow, who was also added to the 40-man roster prior to tonight’s game in San Diego. The Luplow news first came down on Wednesday night, as reported here. The Pirates also announced today that Steven Brault was sent to Indianapolis, although that move actually happened yesterday. With the off-day on Thursday, there was no need to call up Luplow until today.

Brian Peloza talked about Luplow’s short time with Indianapolis this morning. We will have much more on Luplow on the site shortly.

  • Update the 40 man roster please.

  • Another thing they’re doing with Luplow that they normally don’t do is putting him right into the lineup. One thing I’d like to see going forward regardless of buy or sell is getting rid of some of these non productive vets (ie jaso). The only way to get Hurdle to quit using them is to take them away from him.

Your not in the game, you just don’t understand, the back of his bubblegum card doesn’t lie, he has it in him, we just have to find a way to bring it out, if you don’t believe me, ask Hurdle the super genius

    • Thank God they did! What would they have done without his 0 for 3 night at the plate and his terrible glove in the field?

Hurdle plays the guys he has. Osuna can’t field. Jaso can’t hit or field. There aren’t any other Rt fielders on the roster. He played an unprepared rookie last night. It’s not a Hurdle problem. It’s a roster problem

Was anyone removed from the 40 man or was there a spot open

  • Hitting 7th tonight.

  • If Luplow were a more high profile prospect do think the pirates would hesitate the quick promotion. Do you see an eventual spot for brault in the major leagues
