Josh Harrison Out Six Weeks with Broken Hand

Published:

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced on Monday afternoon that Josh Harrison sustained a fracture to the fifth metacarpal of his left hand and they estimated that his return would be six weeks. He was hit on the hand by a pitch in yesterday’s game.

No roster move has been announced to take his spot, but the Pirates could either go with Max Moroff, who could play second base, or bring up an outfielder and have Adam Frazier and/or Sean Rodriguez take turns there until Harrison returns. The Pirates will also be making a move to add waiver pickup left-handed pitcher Enny Romero to the roster today, so stay tuned for updates later in the day.

When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects.
