Live Discussion: Nationals 3, Pirates 2, Final

The Pittsburgh Pirates (17-11) head to Washington to take on the Nationals (12-16) in a four-game series. The Pirates will send Jameson Taillon to the mound, while the Nationals will counter with Tanner Roark.

News out of Washington is that Nick Kingham will remain in the rotation, for now. As I wrote this morning, that’s the right call, although the Pirates really only have need for a fifth starter twice between now and May 20th. Alan Saunders had more on Kingham’s new slider today:

Matt Gajtka had a story on the adjustments for Tyler Glasnow and Steven Brault:

What is Frazier waiting for on that play? Field it and throw it. That play shouldn’t have been close.

Either way, Taillon with a good 5th and 6th to salvage the start. Hopefully something clicked.

If they aren’t going to give Moroff any AB’s they may as well bring up Osuna to spot-start for Polanco (mostly) or Bell. Polanco has been awful at bat and in the field. If he has a lingering injury put him on the 15. Anything is more valuable than him at the moment.
