The Pittsburgh Pirates activated catcher Francisco Cervelli from the disabled list prior to Sunday’s game. To make room on the 25-man roster, Jacob Stallings has been optioned to Indianapolis. Cervelli is in the lineup for Sunday’s game.

Cervelli last caught for the Pirates on June 21st, before going on the disabled list with a concussion. He played two rehab games for Altoona this week, though both were as the DH.

The Pirates started Elias Diaz in all 14 of their games while Cervelli was out. Stallings caught three times off the bench, putting in a total of nine innings behind the plate.
