The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled outfielder Jordan Luplow on Friday afternoon and optioned pitcher Clay Holmes to Indianapolis.

Holmes started on Wednesday night in Los Angeles for the Pirates after pitching just once in two weeks. Luplow batted .297/.382/.487 in 77 games with Indianapolis. Holmes will return to Indianapolis, where he can pitch regularly in the rotation in case he's needed as a depth option again.
