The Pittsburgh Pirates (80-77) are facing the Chicago Cubs (92-66) in the fourth game of a four-game series at Wrigley Field this week. In tonight’s game, the Pirates are sending Trevor Williams to the mound to go up against lefty Jon Lester, who has a 3.43 ERA in 175.2 innings, with 146 strikeouts and a 1.31 WHIP. He has faced the Pirates five times this season. In three of those games, he has given up four runs (12 ER over 16 IP combined). In the other two games, he combined for 13 shutout innings.

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball.
