Winter Leagues: Pablo Reyes is on a Doubles Streak

In the Dominican on Sunday night, Pablo Reyes went 1-for-4 with his fifth double and a run scored. It’s his third game in a row with a double. Reyes is hitting .248/.338/.333 in 34 games this winter. He was scheduled to play until the end of November, but asked the Pirates to play through the end of the regular season, which is two weeks from today.

Erik Gonzalez has been out of the lineup for the last two days. He is currently in the U.S. and will rejoin his team soon.

In Puerto Rico, Jerrick Suiter went 0-for-2 and 0-for-3 during a doubleheader on Sunday. He is now hitting .195/.267/.244 through 12 games.

Jordan Jess made his seventh appearance and tossed a shutout inning on one hit, with no walks or strikeouts. In six innings this winter, he has allowed five runs on seven hits, with four walks and five strikeouts.

In Colombia, Edgar Barrios started at shortstop and went 2-for-4 with two singles. In 19 games, the 18-year-old has a .239/.308/.239 slash line, with nine runs scored and five RBIs.

The tough debut in winter ball continued for 17-year-old infielder Carlos Arroyo. He pinch-hit on Sunday and struck out. He is 0-for-19 in six games, reaching base once (.050 OPS) on a hit-by-pitch.
