Pirates Notes: Chris Archer Faces the Orioles

Published:

The Pittsburgh Pirates came back late from a 5-0 deficit on Wednesday afternoon to win 6-5 over the Minnesota Twins in Fort Myers. The Pirates scored four runs in the eighth, then put up two runs in the ninth on back-to-back singles from Logan Hill and Colin Moran. Zack Kone scored the tying run, while Pablo Reyes scored the go ahead run.

Joe Musgrove made his second spring start and went five innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, with no walks and four strikeouts. The Twins scored two runs in the sixth off of Michael Feliz to take a 5-0 lead. Nick Burdi, Clay Holmes and Brandon Maurer each followed with a scoreless inning, with just one Minnesota batter reaching base over the final three innings.

Pablo Reyes had a nice day at the plate in the lead-off spot, collecting three singles, scoring twice and driving in a run. Colin Moran had two hits, two RBIs and a walk. The Pirates had a total of ten hits, all of them singles.

Jacob Stallings left the game early due to neck tightness, which could be an issue with Opening Day just a week away.
