Live Discussion: Pirates vs Giants, 7:05 PM; Lyles Leaves Early

The Pittsburgh Pirates (10-6) take on the San Francisco Giants (8-11) in the start of a seven-game homestand. Jordan Lyles will make his third start. He has allowed one earned run in 11 innings this season. His mound opponent will be Madison Bumgarner, who has a 3.12 ERA in 26 innings over four starts. He has an 0.92 WHIP, a .213 BAA and 23 strikeouts. Bumgarner allowed two runs over seven innings at home against the Colorado Rockies in his last start.

The weather doesn’t look like it will cooperate tonight, but we posted this anyway so we can give updates. It might be a long night. If they don’t play tonight, as least this is a place to discuss anything related to the Pirates, including the Indianapolis lineup tonight

Lonnie Chisenhall begins a rehab assignment today with Indianapolis.

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball.
