Live Discussion: Pirates vs Dodgers, 7:05 PM; Cervelli Leaves Early

Published:

The Pittsburgh Pirates (25-23) take on the Los Angeles Dodgers (33-18) for three games at PNC Park, with game two tonight at 7:05 PM. The Pirates will send out Joe Musgrove today. He faced the Dodgers back on April 27th, allowing one earned run over 6.2 innings. In his last start, Musgrove allowed three earned runs over 6.1 innings against the San Diego Padres. This will be just his fourth start at home this season. The Dodgers will send out 32-year-old lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu, who gave up two runs over seven innings against the Pirates back on April 26th.  Ryu has a 1.52 ERA and has tossed shutout ball in each of his last three starts, throwing a total of 24 innings over that time.

UPDATE: Game is starting in a delay with no word when that might be. A storm is about to come through the area, so you might need coffee tonight.

Here are the lineups:

When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
