The Pittsburgh Pirates have reinstated right-handed pitcher Chris Archer from the 10-day injured list, in time for him to make his start this afternoon. To make room, they have optioned Clay Holmes to Indianapolis.
Archer got off to a strong start this year, posting a 2.00 ERA in 18 innings, with a 24:7 K/BB ratio in that span. It’s hard to say how much impact his thumb injury had on the final two starts, especially the last one when he gave up six earned runs in four innings.
We’ll get some kind of an answer on that going forward, starting today, with Archer showing which one was the real version now that he’s healthy.
