A look at how the current top 30 prospects did today. If a player is in the majors for an extended time or loses his prospect eligibility (Kevin Newman, Nick Burdi and Cole Tucker), he will be removed from this list. Everyone below him will be shifted up a spot, and a new player will be added to the bottom of the list. If a player is out for the season (Travis MacGregor), he will be removed and everyone below him will move up a spot. Removing these guys doesn’t mean they have lost prospect status. It is just an attempt to get more active prospects on the list. Rankings are from our updated 2019 Prospect Guide, and links on each name go to their Pirates Prospects player pages.

Altoona was on the short end of a 14-4 cakewalk against Erie in the system’s only action for the day. James Marvel continued his recent subpar pitching, allowing eight runs on seven hits and an uncharacteristic four walks — he had only six in his first 41 innings — in five and a third innings, with two strikeouts. Marvel allowed only five earned runs in his first 29.2 IP, but he’s given up 17 in 16.2 IP since then. Yeudy Garcia followed and got lit up for six runs on three hits and five walks, while retiring just five batters. Vicente Campos allowed one run over two innings.
The Curve got some offense from the middle of the order, as Logan Hill went 2-for-2 with two walks, and Hunter Owen was 2-for-4. Each hit his ninth double and, between them, they accounted for three runs and two RBIs. Jason Delay hit his fifth double while going 1-for-4; he’s now batting .373. Jared Oliva was 1-for-3 with a walk.
