Pirates Announce 2020 Spring Training Schedule

In case you like planning your Spring Training vacation early, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced their 2020 Spring Training schedule on Monday. The season starts early this year, opening up on February 22nd and closing on March 24th.

Here are some highlights:

The schedule begins on February 22nd with a home game against the Minnesota Twins.

They have a split doubleheader the next day, facing the Detroit Tigers at home and the Philadelphia Phillies on the road.

The Boston Red Sox come in for the only time on February 26th.

New York Yankees visit for the only time on March 7th.

March 13th is a night game against the Twins.

The Pirates will be home on St Patrick’s Day and presumably will wear green against the Philadelphia O’Phillies.

The Pirates host the Tampa Bay Rays on March 22nd, four days before they take them on in the 2020 season opener.

The final home game is against the Detroit Tigers on March 23rd.

The final spring game is against the Tigers on the road on March 24th.

They play a total of 33 games, with 16 taking place at the ballpark formerly officially known as McKechnie Field.

All home opponents: Red Sox, Yankees, Phillies, Tigers, Twins, Rays, Toronto Blue Jays, Baltimore Orioles and Atlanta Braves.

All road opponents: same nine teams
