Pirates Recall Mitch Keller; Richard Rodriguez Placed on Injured List

Published:

The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled right-handed pitcher Mitch Keller on Monday night for his start against the Los Angeles Angels. To make room on the active roster, right-handed pitcher Richard Rodríguez has been placed on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to August 10th) with right shoulder inflammation.

Keller made three big league starts earlier this year, posting a 10.50 ERA and a 2.25 WHIP in 12 innings, with 15 strikeouts. Since being sent to Indianapolis, he has posted a 4.14 ERA in 45.2 innings, with a .249 BAA and a 49:10 SO/BB ratio. He currently leads the International League in strikeouts and ranks second in both ERA and WHIP.

Rodriguez gave up three runs in his last outing on Friday night, while recording just one out. He has a 3.72 ERA in 48.1 innings, with 41 strikeouts and a 1.39 WHIP over 54 appearances this season.
