The Pittsburgh Pirates (65-91) take on the Chicago Cubs (82-74) for three games at PNC Park, with game two taking place tonight at 7:05 PM. The Pirates will send out Dario Agrazal for his final start of the season. He has a 5.08 ERA in 67.1 innings, with 36 strikeouts and a 1.40 WHIP. Agrazal has a 7.47 ERA in his last eight starts. He has not faced the Cubs in his career.
The Cubs will counter with veteran lefty Jon Lester, who has a 4.51 ERA in 165.2 innings, with 161 strikeouts and a 1.50 WHIP. He has faced the Pirates four times already this season. He threw six shutout innings one time and two shutout frames another, leaving that start early due to a minor injury. In the other two outings, Lester gave up three runs over 6.2 innings on July 13th, followed by seven runs (four earned) on 11 hits in five innings back on September 13th.
Some news from today:
The last weekly update from Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk: Josh Bell (strained left groin), Starling Marte (sprained left wrist), Elias Diaz (sprained right knee) and Cole Tucker (left knee strain) won’t play the rest of the way.
