Winter Leagues: Chris Sharpe and Ike Schlabach Help Team to Victory in Puerto Rico

In Australia, Ji-Hwan Bae was the DH and he went 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Through the first four weeks of the ABL season, he is batting .320/.433/.540 in 15 games. Bae ranks ninth in the league in OPS.

Robbie Glendinning went 1-for-2 with two walks and his 22nd RBI. He is batting .344/.412/.705 in 16 games. Glendinning ranks third in the league in OPS and second in slugging, while leading the league in doubles, extra-base hits and RBIs. He has made eight starts at second base and eight at shortstop. A majority of his time last year in Australia was spent at third base.

In Puerto Rico, Chris Sharpe helped out his stats with a 2-for-2 night that included two walks. In 20 games, he’s hitting .250/.386/.304, with one double, one triple, 12 walks and three stolen bases.

Ike Schlabach pitched a scoreless ninth for his fourth save. He retired the side in order, picking up one strikeout. In 10 appearances, he has allowed two runs over 10.1 innings, with a .200 BAA and an 8:2 SO/BB ratio.

Yacksel Rios pitched a scoreless eighth, retiring the side in order. In five appearances, he has allowed two earned runs over six innings.

In Mexico, Randy Romero was used as a pinch-runner in the ninth inning of his team’s 5-3 loss. He’s hitting .179/.207/.214 in 26 games.
