2020 MLB Draft Tracker

Published:

We are going to keep track of the 2020 draft picks here as they are announced tonight. The first 37 picks will be made tonight, with the final four rounds of the draft happening tomorrow night. We have included links to all of the players covered in our Draft Prospect Watch articles below. As those players are selected, they will be moved to the tracker. The Pirates have the 7th and 31st overall picks today.

This will help you see who is left as the 31st overall pick approaches, plus it will serve as a preview for tomorrow, showing which players are the best names still left on the board. After the Pirates make their selections tonight, we will have separate articles dealing with those players.

The names below are in alphabetical order and include numerous players who fit well with the 7th, 31st or 44th overall picks. I’ll note here that we didn’t cover Arizona State first baseman Spencer Torkelson or Vanderbilt outfielder Austin Martin because they should be the first two names off the board and I didn’t want to get anyone’s hopes up. Everyone else who has rated in the top 20 at some point this season has an article with a scouting report and video, which can be found below.

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
