Pirates Finalize 30-Man Roster Ahead of Friday’s Season Opener

Published:

On Thursday afternoon, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced their 30-man roster to begin the 2020 season. Rosters had to be set by noon today. Here’s the list from the Pirates:

Teams will play with 30-man rosters for two weeks, then 28-man rosters for two more weeks, before settling on 26-man rosters for the rest of the season.

Nik Turley, Derek Holland and Phillip Evans were all added to the 40-man roster. Luke Maile was placed on the 60-day injured list, opening up the one spot needed to allow all three players to get on the 40-man roster. JT Riddle was placed on the 10-day injured list due to an abdominal strain. JT Brubaker (pictured above) will be on the MLB roster for the first time in his career.

The Pirates also announce that Blake Cederlind (COVID-19) has been cleared to play and will report to Altoona.
