Game Recap: Beau Sulser had a solid outing on Sunday, going six innings, with three runs (two earned) on six hits, two walks and four strikeouts. He now has a 4.81 ERA in 116 innings. Blake Weiman, Matt Eckelman and Hunter Stratton each threw scoreless innings in the 10-3 win. Indianapolis got things started with an RBI single by Phillip Evans in the first. Taylor Davis added an RBI single in the second. Chris Sharpe, Tucupita Marcano and Michael Chavis each drove in a run with RBI singles in the fourth inning. Sharpe drew a bases loaded walk in the fifth. Marcano followed with one run on a single, then Chavis drove in a pair with a single. An error scored the final run of the game in the sixth.

ALTOONA

Game Recap: Starter Osvaldo Bido went three innings on Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits, with two of those hits being homers. He had no walks and three strikeouts. Bido finished his season with a 5.09 ERA in 93.2 innings, with 91 strikeouts. Like everyone else on Altoona, there’s a chance that he could move up to Indianapolis, where they still have ten games left. Brad Case followed with three innings, allowing one run on one hit, no walks and four strikeouts. Nathan Kirby allowed a run in the seventh and Shea Murray gave up two in the eighth for the 7-5 loss. Altoona finished 58-59. Arden Pabst had the big hit, a three-run homer. The Curve also got RBI singles from Josh Bissonette and Rodolfo Castro. Bissonette, Connor Kaiser and Jack Suwinski each had two hits. Altoona struck out 16 times in the game.

Four players were promoted after the game.

This is the final game for Altoona. All of the other three full-season teams (as well as the DSL teams) have games next week.

Game Recap: Carmen Mlodzinski didn’t have the best finish to his season, but he should get a chance to make up for that in the playoffs coming up. He lasted one inning, giving up four runs on four hits and a walk. He needed 35 pitches to get through the inning. He came into the day with a 3.28 ERA in 49.1 innings, but he finishes up with a 3.93 mark. Santiago Florez also got a tune up appearance for the playoffs and he allowed one run on three hits in 1.1 innings. He finished with a 7.53 ERA in 43 innings with Greensboro and a 1.37 ERA in 52.2 innings with Bradenton. Bear Bellomy finished off the fourth inning, then went two more frames, finishing with 2.2 shutout innings, with six strikeouts. Michell Miliano tossed two eventful scoreless innings with two hits, two walks, a hit batter and four strikeouts. Austin Roberts closed out the 6-5 win with two shutout innings. Greensboro pitchers combined for 16 strikeouts.

Nick Gonzales hit his 18th homer and finished his season with a .302 average, while also adding a single and a walk in this game. Jared Triolo hit his 29th double and stole his 25th base. Will Matthiessen drove in two runs on a pair of hits. Blake Sabol and Matt Gorski also had RBIs.

BRADENTON

Game Recap: Po-Yu Chen made his fourth start with Bradenton and it went much like his first two games. He dominated in the FCL this year, but he’s had some trouble in Low-A, other than last week when he threw six shutout innings. His Bradenton stats show a 5.63 ERA in 16 innings. He had an 0.69 ERA in 26 innings in the FCL. Alex Roth allowed two runs in two innings, then Oliver Mateo and Carlos Campos each tossed a scoreless inning. Mateo struck out two batters to give him 82 strikeouts in 37.2 innings. Bradenton lost 7-2 to finish 71-48 on the season. They will play a best-of-five championship series that starts on Tuesday. The Marauders scored first with a Jase Bowen sacrifice fly in the first. They were down 5-1 when Dylan Shockley singled home a run in the fifth. Sammy Siani had a hit, walk and run scored. Maikol Escotto hit his 13th double, but he also committed three errors. Daniel Rivero picked up two outfield assists.

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball.
