Winter Leagues: A Recap of Friday Night’s Action

Friday night’s Pittsburgh Pirates action from around winter ball.

In the Dominican, Rodolfo Castro went 1-for-4 with his fifth double, a run scored and an RBI. He’s now hitting .232 with an .819 OPS in 21 games. There’s video below of a solid defensive play by Castro from Thursday night.

Free agent Christian Bethancourt went 0-for-3, dropping him down to a .181 average and a .525 OPS.

In Mexico, Jared Oliva went 1-for-5 with his first double and an RBI. He’s now hitting .250 with a .734 OPS in eight games.

Randy Romero went 1-for-5 with a walk. He’s now hitting .304 with a .729 OPS in 45 games.

In Colombia, Tsung-Che Cheng played his third game and went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. His first two times up (fly out to left field and a walk) were against former Pirates pitcher Stolmy Pimentel. Cheng went 1-for-9 with a run scored and an RBI in his first two games.
